I've been out of the country/house from the 3rd to um...today afternoon, which explains the big gap between the posts. So I shall attempt to write it all down now. Hahaha.
3rd to 7th june(church retreat): we go to somewhere called water city resort in melaka, and the place kinda sucks as compared to the other retreat, but who cares. Everyday's breakfast, lunch and dinner consists of mostly the same thing, with a few exeptions. There was one night on which a group of us ate chicken rice balls(no sick jokes here pls guys) because we decided we wanter some variety, and the last day's food was good, because thety wanted everything to look fine and dandy in front of the american boss that was coming that day because of some scandal in which alot of people were turned away because of no space in the hotel, which resulted in that day's breakfast actually having a toaster to toast the bread, and jam to add to the toast. That day I smuggled out 2 slices of bread to feed some cats but it ended up in the fishes because the mother cat (I'll explain later on) didn't like it, and in the end one of my juniors gave it some cake and it went over to the place where its kittens were. The kittens were quite cute, there were 3, here are some shots:
there were 2 striped black and white, and another ginger and white one. At first I didn't really know which was which, but after awhile I figured it out, one of the black and white kittens had a long tail, while the other had a stumpy one.
I suppose that was one of the best things about that retreat, since, as everyone should know, I love cats.
Another thing I liked was the fact that I was the photographer for the sunday school/kids aged from p1 to p6 section, which is a two-in-one kind of thing, since the kids are kinda cute, and I like photography (partly because being a photographer beats getting your photo taken, and there appears to be some kind of evil satisfaction one gets from sabotaging others by means of camera snapshots). Though most of them (especially the guys) spoiled the whole thing by covering their faces with their files and some people (though most of time it was 'completely unintentional') hit my camera when I was in the, might I say, terribly interesting position of lying on the ground under a chair with my legs sticking up the door behind me in the fear that I should get squashed/hit unknowingly by someone opening it. The perfectly reasonable cause for this was the fact that I was taking pictures of the 'kids' playing bowling with small balls made of whatever stuff they use to make stress balls, and painted empty kitchen/toilet rolls as pins. Interestingly enough, the person who hit the camera smack on the lens was the one who hated me most because of the fact that I was the cameraman/'cameragirl'. Terribly amusing, if I may say so.
Then again there was the whole 'SF helpers crew' who sabotaged a certain two people (one of which was the one who hit my poor cam's lens) in a very evil manner. Back to the point. There were 4 of us: me, Ariela, Alice and Josh (the one who started the whole sabotage thing). And we had a terrible habit of doing wierd stuff during the childrens' service. I also deleted the picture the took of me receiving the token of appreciation thing while the teacher's cam was in my hands, between taking pics of the kids getting 'medals' proving the to be 'champions in training' (it was like super lame) purely because I was, and still am, a/the photographer, and I hate getting my photo taken. So there.
8th to 11th june -SF retreat @changi fairy point 4:
We went to um...the abovementioned spot for the 1st SF(students' fellowship, comprising of those in my church aged 13-18/end-of-ns-age, whatever that is) retreat this year. I shared a dorm with 2 friends and 3 seniors(yes the seniors were my friends too, but friends meaning those my age), meaning there were 6 of us, but ppl kept changing rooms so in the end two of the seniors called Gracia and Joanna and I were the only original occupants of the dorm. Actually, truth be told, we all somehow managed to squeeze onto 3 normal-sized beds, simply by pushing them together with the sides together and having all our legs collect on the middle bed, with 3 heads at each end. However, there was always the potential danger of falling into the hole between the mattresses which had been created by the bed frames. I ended up having a cold on the last day, same as my p5 camp, because I um...froze at night(yes there actually was air-conditioning).
Then we had this cool video by Daniel (the cameraman and editor) and Randy (the actor). The sound effects were...omg they were crazy, I tell you. When they put it up on youtube I'll put the add up and you can see for yourself. I've got a few more videos , mostly of tricks with the wave hoop and other rubbish. Apparently Norman was trying to show off...
On the first night, our group A&W (Anything and Whatever, 3 drinks in one!) was having this self-intro session, and I said what I liked was my cca (SJAB, as you all know), and Jonathan Foo the NS medic happily decided that 'the first aid kit was mine'. Seriously. Guess what, SJABers? I've discovered that we've got a JC1 senior who's a lance corporal. And he thought I was nuts because I referred to the sgts, sir Tien Leng(this one's the carrot guy)and ma'am Constance as I did.('Sir?! Ma'am?! Already?! Normally when I see them I'm like 'Constance! Leng!' and you're calling them that? omg.) Come on, he would do that too if he were in my place. Oh yes, watch out ppl...He says that TTG is a sicko ('look at his photos!(well some anyway)'), and yang lao shi can be really scary ('he's probably nice to you guys cuz you're still sec ones). Oh my, this is gonna be a tough year ahead.
